He also picked up the guitar, and was encouraged to perform professionally while studying at college. He founded the Sweet Comfort Band in 1972, along with drummer Rick Thomson and bassist Kevin Thomson. In 1976, Rick Thomas joined the trio and the group went on to become a powerhouse leader in the Christian Rock community over their decade-long existence.
