A Pair of CMEs Headed To Earth - Death-Diving Comet Plunges Into The Sun - December 25. 2023.

Two CMEs were analyzed to have likely Earth-directed components. The first CME, observed in LASCO C2 imagery at 24/12:24 UTC, was associated with a filament eruption at 24/09:20 UTC. The second CME, observed in C2 data at 24/15:48 UTC, was associated with a filament eruption at 24/14:38 UTC. Model output suggests both CMEs result in glancing blows late on 27 Dec/early on 28 Dec. G1 to G2-class geomagnetic storms are expected when the pair of CMEs arrives. Death-Diving Comet Plunges Into Sun SOHO was captured what is thought to be the Kreutz sungrazer comet’s final moments. It was most likely vaporized on closest approach on December 23-24. Soon after the comet dives into the sun the CMEs are coming! Seven active regions on the visible solar disk on December 25, 2023.
