In Venezuela, there’s a tense wait for the results of a presidential election dominated by the economic crisis. In addition to the authoritarian President Nicolás Maduro, who is seeking a third term in office, nine other candidates are running for the highest-highest state office. Alongside Maduro, the best chances are given to former diplomat Edmundo González Urrutia from the opposition alliance Plataforma Unitaria Democrática opposition alliance.
