They join violin virtuoso Leonidas Kavakos and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of the esteemed Sir Simon Rattle, in a stellar program of two pathbreaking works by Beethoven. The modern-sounding Triple Concerto in C major, featuring Mäkelä and Shani alongside Kavakos in the solo roles, is followed by Beethoven’s paradigm-breaking “Eroica“ Symphony No. 3, a revolution in the symphonic form whose initial dedication to Napoleon was later retracted by the composer.
