Georgia Jones -’Let The Music Play [Jazz Mix]’ (1990)

A one-off collaboration between US DJ and producer Freddy Bastone and vocalist Georgia Jones, this is a cover of the old Shannon hit, ’Let The Music Play’. It’s the third mix on the CD single, listed as ’Jazz Mix’, but if you told me it’s actually the ’Dub Mix’ and the inlay was wrong, I’d believe you as it stays very close to the ’Club Mix’, but with less vocals. I’ve never had the vinyl to check. Anyway, I love this, a great warm, early house track, not unlike the smooth sound Electribe 101 were delivering back then, and who were also co-incidentally signed to the Mercury Records label. Georgia can also be heard contributing vocals to albums by Cyndi Lauper, Sandée, Lydia Rhodes, Indra, Cartouche and many others.
