Macbeth (2022) starring David Tennant

David Tennant needs no introduction or explanation at this point; he has already appeared on this channel, albeit in a very small role in a 1993 play of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde, but this is his first appearance as a lead. Famously, Tennant played Hamlet circa 2010 and later reprised the performance for a BBC TV adaptation. Here he plays Macbeth in what may be Shakespeare’s most supernaturally Gothic play - I think you can argue that certain Gothic elements of violence and barbarism are present in many plays, but it’s perhaps only with Macbeth that the supernatural takes its fullest flight in his work.
