GENNADY GOLOVKIN (KAZAKHSTAN) vs KELL BROOK (UK) TKO FIGHT

Ok guys, so The fight between Gennady “GGG“ Golovkin and Kell “Special K“ Brook took place on September 10th, 2016, at The O2 Arena in London, England. It was a highly controversial bout, with Golovkin defending his WBC, IBF, and IBO middleweight titles. Kell Brook was an undefeated welterweight champion, with a record of 36 wins and 25 knockouts. Brook moved up two weight classes to challenge Golovkin, and this was seen by many as a daring but dangerous move. Golovkin entered the ring with an unbeaten record of 35-0, and with 32 knockouts was notoriously known for his exceptional power. He had an intimidating reputation as one of the most fearsome punchers in boxing, to the extent that the WBA refused to sanction this particular fight. From the first bell, you could see that Golovkin started aggressively and wanted Brook to taste his power early. Brook was affected by Golovkin’s power, and for most of their fight, he fought on the back foot. Brook appeared to enter the fight with the intention to box Golovkin but Triple G simply forced the action. Where Brook landed his jab to establish distance, Golovkin landed his Power jab to close the distance; where Brook tried to counter Golovkin’s attacks, Golovkin was aggressive and utilized his power shots. In the second round, Brook started to find a rhythm and became more aggressive. He found success when he put some of his well-placed combinations into action and landed a beautiful uppercut on the inside. In the third round, Golovkin became significantly more aggressive and Brook appeared to have sustained a broken orbital bone. From then on Golovkin took control of the fight and mounted more effective aggression. In the fifth round, Brook was subjected to more punishment from Golovkin and his corner threw in the towel to stop the fight. Golovkin took the victory by TKO in the 5th round. The fight was a testament to Golovkin’s dominance in the middleweight division and Brook’s courage to go up 2 weight classes and compete against a middleweight behemoth.
