“We’ve Not Been Told ANYTHING!“ - Mayor FUMES Over Home Office Plans To House Migrants In Millom

Mayor of Millom Simone Faulkner reveals the local authorities and residents weren’t informed of government plans to use eight homes to house asylum seekers. “We had to do our own investigation - we should have been consulted first and foremost!” Mayor Faulkner goes on to say that residents have a right to be angry as the town already has “poor” infrastructure. ’’The people of Millom deserve better. We still have hundreds on waiting lists for affordable housing.’’ A Home Office spokesperson responded to the row: “We have always been upfront about the unprecedented pressure being put on our asylum system, brought about by a significant increase in dangerous and illegal journeys into the country over recent years. The Home Office has a statutory duty to provide safe and secure housing for asylum seekers and we are continuing to work closely with local authorities, including in Millom, to manage any impact in the area and address local concerns.“ Click here for more from TalkTV If you need any help visit:
