Waacs (1914-1918)

WAACs (Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps). World War One. Women in military. WAACs are reviewed; practice training exercises. Opens w/ WAACs marching past - incl. some women not in uniforms - new recruits? Long line of women march. Male Navy officer speaks to women - pan. CU 2 women talking. The commander w/ a few women. Recruits march past; Navy band plays in BG. Pan as several female officers; w/ 1 Navy & 1 Army male officers walk past the women Sort of drill / game / physical training / sports thing: women in white blouses w/ ties; long skirts; no hats or jackets; walk toward camera in 2 close lines; w/ rope on ground between. CU they march in place; raising knees high - looks like aerobic exercise class! Suddenly turn; lines facing; grasp hands; & spread out along rope. They lift rope; start to pull & lean back as in tug of war. Strength. Then they twist round; still pulling same direction but now facing that way too. Looks a bit strange. 1 by 1 turn back again.
