A series of widespread floods continues across the European continent. The next country to suffer from floods was France, where flash floods hit the world-famous resort of Cannes, located on the coast of the Ligurian Sea.
Powerful thunderstorms hit the French Riviera, which led to the flooding of the city of Cannes. The downpours triggered floods and caused traffic difficulties on railways and roads. About 46 mm (about 2 inches) of precipitation fell in Cannes in an hour. The footage published online shows how turbulent streams of water wash away cars from the city streets. Other settlements in the French department of Alpes-Maritimes were also affected by the flooding, schools were closed, some basements and shops were flooded and partially destroyed.
