Penn Badgely sees humanity in despicable, elitist killer Joe | You Season 4 interview | Salon Talks

Four seasons into Netflix’s serial killer drama “You,” Penn Badgley has deep thoughts about his character Joe and what the show is trying to say about love. “At the end of the day, Joe is an unreliable narrator and a despicable human being,” Badgley said in this “Salon Talks” interview. Plus, Badgley answers the question, is change possible for Joe, who has murdered more people than you can count readily on one hand? “It’s a catch-22 if you’re going to talk about it in real terms,” he said. “The show is never a clinical portrait of either a serial killer or a man with mental illness.” The first five episodes of Season Four are available now on Netflix and the final five episodes premiere on March 9, 2023.
