Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (8 March 1714 – 14 December 1788), also formerly spelled Karl Philipp Emmanuel Bach, was a German Classical period musician and composer, the fifth child and second (surviving) son of Johann Sebastian Bach and Maria Barbara Bach. The Amsterdam Bach Soloists play modern instruments but have also worked closely with renowned baroque specialists such as Frans Brüggen, Ton Koopman, Marc Minkowski, Christophe Coin and Roy Goodman. Whenever their repertoire allows them, the Amsterdam Bach Soloists play without a conductor, led by their principal violinist, Henk Rubingh. Their concerts in Utrecht and Amsterdam are constantly well attended just like their annual performance of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248). The Amsterdam Bach Soloists have performed all over Europe as well as in Japan and in the USA. They have worked with musicians such as Anner Bijlsma, Thomas Zehetmair, Michael Chance, Charlotte Margiono and Andreas Scholl.
