Piano story

As the last note echoed off the mountain peaks, the car’s engine hummed into silence. A woman with fiery red hair and eyes full of curiosity, stepped out. Her boots crunched against the gravel, the sound dwarfed by the silence left by the man’s melody. “Interesting place for a concert,“ she said, leaning against her car, her gaze fixed on the piano. The man slowly turned around, his eyes lingering on the ivory keys. Her curiosity piqued, she walked over, her steps slow and measured. She noticed the sadness in his eyes, the leather tailcoat he wore, the way his fingers danced over the keys even though the music had stopped. “All by yourself?“ It wasn’t a question. The man nodded, his hands falling still. “I know the feeling,“ she said, her voice softer, “I’m running from my past too.“ A silence fell between them, the mountain air heavy with their shared understanding. “You can’t survive like this. Music helps if someone is willing to listen,“ she said, “but you can’t avoid this“. She pulled out a rusty Stan MkII gun from the trunk. “It fills these mountains with more than echoes of the past”. “Join our pack. We are moving to the Naryn river tomorrow”. Melodies still danced in the air as they started walking slowly to the car. Sounds racing through the wilderness, the grand piano no longer a symbol of loneliness but of some beginning.
