China is in chaos! Record floods threaten millions of people! The southeast is flooded!

Rain, mudslides, floods and mudslides have killed dozens of people in China. Officials are warning of extreme weather conditions in other parts of the country. Reports on Friday said severe flooding and landslides in southern China’s Guangdong province have killed at least 47 people. Nine victims were confirmed to have died in the city of Meizhou earlier in the week, while another 38 people died in the county under the jurisdiction of the city of Meizhou on Friday. On Thursday, five were killed in Jiaoling county in northeastern Guangdong province and four in Meixian district of Meizhou city, news outlets reported. More than 55,000 people and thousands of homes are estimated to have been affected by the torrential rains, which destroyed some 356 kilometers of roads, damaged hundreds of bridges and flooded farmland. Temperatures were reported to have reached more than 35 degrees Celsius. Heavy rainfall occurred from Sunday to Tuesday, causing a road collapse in Meixian District and damage to eight townships in Pingyuan County. This week’s flooding is proving to be historic, with some areas experiencing the worst weather conditions ever recorded. State broadcaster CCTV reported that in some areas “floods are a once-in-a-century event.“ The National Meteorological Center has issued weather warnings for several provinces.
