Making a Coffee Table from Recycled Plastic | DIY HDPE Sheet Pressing

We built our mould using scrap aluminium and plywood, and heated all of our milk bottle tops in our panini press. Once all the plastic was hot, we transferred it over to the mould and used our hydraulic press to flatten the sheet. Voila! A sheet made from 100% recycled plastic, made using a DIY plastic sheet press. There are so many things that could have failed with this project, but we are SO happy that it didn’t. The sheet looks like a beautiful map of the world and the hairpin legs really finish it off nicely. The cabinet scraper also worked a treat at flattening the sheet.
