OMORI || rolling girl

HAPPY OMORI ANNIVERSARY EVERYONE!! this is .. the first time i’ve ever created something for a fandom’s anniversary on time haha. i think omori found a special place in my heart for several reasons, but one of the most precious was that it was one of the last games my younger sister and i played together :] ! it will always be very special to me because of that. sentimentality aside, i’ve wanted to practice drawing sunny, and then i heard this song and could not stop thinking about how it fit his internal struggle very well -- the idea that he’s been “rolling“ through each day, and how that strain takes a toll each time he puts up with it, and the lull of giving up seems more and more inviting :C if it isn’t clear, this is an animation highlighting the concept of the bad ending. i really want to do an animation for the good ending, and with this video and the previous rpg one, i think i’m getting more comfortable with animating. i’m saving the best for last! some last things: this animation is an imitation of akiakane’s rolling girl mv. it’s really popular! i’ve linked it below so you can see it too. the translation is by me, so the interpretation may be simplified a lot. another thing is the lyric about “weaving purpose into [his] words.“ the verb used is actually 奏でる, which means to play (a musical instrument), so it’s more literally “playing purpose/intent/meaning into [his] words.“ doesn’t that fit sunny so well?
