GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Capitals () | An Excellent Team Effort

The Penguins finally returned to playing games in the Eastern time zone against an old, familiar foe: the Washington Capitals. Danton Heinen’s eighth tally of the season put the Penguins up 1-0 in an otherwise scoreless opening period. Just over eight and a half minutes into the 2nd period, Brock McGinn banked a puck off of a Washington defenseman to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead. Then, Kasperi Kapanen capitalized on his opportunity on the top line with Guentzel out due to injury, putting the Penguins up 3-0. Sidney Crosby registered the primary assist on Kapanen’s tally, bringing his point streak to seven games (3G-9A). Kuznetsov finally gave the Capitals a goal in the 3rd period. With an extra attacker on the ice, Eller brought the Capitals to 3-2 with under three minutes remaining in regulation.
