ICYMI: A demonstration took place in Hamtramck, Michigan, yesterday as Bangladeshi protesters celebrated the resignation and fleeing of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Protests in Bangladesh that led to Hasina’s departure, was fueled by weeks of violent clashes that resulted in over 300 deaths. The unrest, initially sparked by opposition to a government job quota system, had grown into a broader movement against Hasina’s administration.
In Hamtramck, the atmosphere of celebration was briefly marred when a supporter of Hasina confronted the demonstrators, creating a tense standoff. Local police were present to maintain order and prevent any escalation.
