American Collier Converted Us Navy’s New Floating Aerodrome. (1922)

Early aircraft carrier at sea off the coast of the United States of America. Full titles read: “US NAVY’S NEW FLOATING AERODROME - Aircraft can now ascend and descend at Sea, can be lowered to repair shops.“ Intertitle reads: “General view of the USS Langley, formerly the Collier Jupiter, converted into a floating aerodrome...“ Various L/S’s of the new type of ship. The ship has had a large flat platform (runway), constructed on top of the existing design. L/S of biplane taking off from the deck of the ship. L/S’s of aeroplane taking off, it nose dives towards the sea before pulling up just before impact. Several other shots of planes taking off and landing. Intertitle reads: “In case of a slight mishap...“ L/S of plane landing and tipping forward suddenly onto it’s nose.
