Women’s National Cross Country (1935)

Full title reads: “Women’s National Cross Country large field competes over gruelling course near Birmingham“. Birmingham, West Midlands. 9th Annual Cross Country Championship of the Women’s Amateur Athletic Association. Various shots of women athletes running a cross country course over fields. Natural sound. High angled shots of women reaching the end of the race. High angled shot of man interviewing one of the runners - Miss Halstead, probably the winner. She is from Lancashire but wears a ’Britain’ track suit. She is pleased with her performance but thought she could have been quicker in the first half. Note: story is unusual as narrator is a woman. She sounds a bit nervous and stilted - perhaps not a professional? AH 2001. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
