Elegie is written for the Clavemusicum Omnitonum, viola da gamba and theorbo, all tuned in 31-meantone temperament. The
temperament allows the use of septimal intervals such as 7:4, 9:7 etc., which are only slightly tempered and enharmonically
equivalent to familiar chromatic intervals (e.g., the harmonic seventh being enharmonically equivalent of the augmented sixth,
and the septimal major third 9:7 being enharmonically equivalent of the diminished fourth).
