Is Telegram founder’s arrest a signal to others to up their game?
Pavel Durov, founder of messaging app Telegram, was arrested in France as part of an investigation into crimes related to child pornography, drug trafficking and fraudulent transactions on the platform. French President Emmanuel Macron has denied any political motive, saying his country is committed to free speech. Bryan Tan, partner at law firm Reed Smith, discusses the case with CNA’s Asia First. He says a key question is whether Durov’s arrest is meant to send a signal to other service providers to “up their game“.
