34“ vs 23“ Scale Length (Controlled Baritone Test)
So which is better? Honestly, in some cases i would prefer to work with the more muted sounds, tweaking the guitar tone some more from there, especially on some of those chords. I can tell it would naturally sit better in a full mix sometimes. I will say I was quite surprised how much the 34“ drop A still sounded like a bass at the lower guitar tension. It was literally like running a bass through a guitar amp, and i would have definitely needed to tweak the tone more to get something less “twangy“ maybe, but the power behind those individual notes helps with that “djenty“ sound in the first place. So again my conclusion is multiple trade-offs with these kinds of tests! I’m glad I got to revisit an old video.
