The Moon in Gorky Park

Music: “Dismay Waltz“ by Marynka A magical event happened on the Pioneer Pond in Gorky Park in Moscow - Marynka’s 2,5 hours solo piano concert as a part of installation, created by Tatiana Ludanik and Katya Volkova. A 6-meter high floating Moon shimmered and flickered on the water surface, decorated with 250 stars. A grand piano was placed on a float. The player, Marynka, made her way to it by boat. The public was enchanted by the magical play of elements - the Moon, the lights, the water and the music. Marynka doesn’t use notations while playing, she follows a self-composed modal musical frame, which gets a new treatment with each performance, making it a powerful experience of the here and now. This dynamic installation with musical performance was commissioned for the 90th anniversary of Gorky Park, 2018. Filmed on Sept 1, 2018, Moscow Music: Marynka Installation concept: Tatyana Ludanik, Katya Volkova Light: Sergey Vasiliev Drone: Evgeniy Mechnikov Additional footage: Yuri Odnopozov (c) 2019, Gorky Park
