6 Stages of Play: How Babies and Toddlers Learn Through Play | Baby Development Tips
Did you know there are 6 stages of play that all babies go through? Each stage offers a unique way for your baby to explore, be creative, and have fun! Here’s a quick overview:
1. Unoccupied Play (0-3 Months): Baby makes random movements with arms, legs, hands, and feet—exploring their body and surroundings.
2. Solitary Play (0-2 Years): Baby is happy to play alone, focusing on their toys and learning independence.
3. Onlooker Play (Around 2 Years): Baby watches others play, learning by observing.
4. Parallel Play (2 Years): Baby plays next to other children with similar toys but without direct interaction.
5. Associative Play (3-4 Years): Baby begins to interact with others while playing, though play isn’t fully coordinated yet.
6. Cooperative Play (4 Years): Baby plays together with others, sharing and collaborating in group activities.
These stages are just guidelines—every child is unique and will progress at their own pace.
