Facing Russia’s warning of retaliatory measures with a “serious negative impact“ over Lithuania transit ban to Moscow’s westernmost Kaliningrad exclave, Lithuanian top leader put faith in NATO. Russia says its response over Lithuania will be both diplomatic… …and practical, which will leave Lithuanians feel the pain. Earlier on June 18, EU member Lithuania prohibited the transit of coal, metals, electronics, and construction materials to Russian enclave of Kaliningrad, home to Moscow’s Baltic Fleet. With Baltic Sea port that remains ice-free year-round, Kaliningrad sandwiched between NATO member Poland and Lithuania holds Russia’s only Baltic Sea coastline.
