Speaking on Tuesday evening Zelenskyy said that the Army Tactical Missile System or ATACMS missiles used had been effective and “proven themselves.“ He did not specify when the missiles were deployed but there are reports that they were used to destroy nine helicopters at Russian bases in east Ukraine, and that dozens of Russian troops were killed or injured. The ATACMS were delivered to Ukraine in secret with their maximum range reduced from 300 to 160 kilometers amid U.S. concerns about raising tensions with Russia.
