Israel-Gaza conflict: Thousands join protests in support of Palestinians in Middle East and beyond

Demonstrations across the Middle East and beyond in support of Palestinians kicked off on Friday, with thousands taking to the streets to demand an end to Israeli strikes as the IDF intensified its assault on Gaza in retaliation for the Hamas attacks. Hamas, which rules Gaza, urged Palestinians to rise up for a “Day of Mobilization“ on Friday in protest against Israel’s bombardment of the enclave, calling on them to march on the mosque and to confront Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank. There has been strong support and sympathy for Israel from Western governments and many citizens over the Hamas attacks, but Israel’s response has also prompted anger, particularly in the Muslim world.
