Games Done Quick (to ban everyone)

Games Done Quick has grown immensely throughout the years and has become the most well known event for speedrunners. However, the staff and management of GDQ has become more and more strict over time as well, banning many players for unknown or completely absurd reasons. Most recently, ADGQ 2018 has gone a step further with a heavily censored, sub only mode chat on the twitch stream, which gets well over a hundred thousand live viewers. What’s been going on and why have these extreme measure been put into place? I dug deep to find answers.
