Jeremy had a great year in 1996 as he only lost one Supercross race on his way to his 3rd consecutive Supercross Championship. The Outdoor Motocross season was going great as well until he unfortunately injured in the last half of the season. He would regroup, but Jeff Emig had cut down his points lead to nothing and had all the momentum, winning the Outdoor Mototcross Championship by just a few points. After a dissapointing end to the Outdoor season McGrath wanted to show that he was not only the best rider in the US, but the whole world.
