Chicago Architecture Biennial Interviews: Theaster Gates
In the third installation of the Chicago Architecture Biennial Interview Series, we spoke with the Chicago-based artist and activist Theaster Gates about his practice and the role new social spaces can play in Chicago and the world. Spirit of Space explored Gates’ latest project, the Stony Island Arts Bank, a multi-purpose exhibition space and archive housed in a converted bank in Chicago’s South Side, which opened as part of the inaugural Chicago Architecture Biennial.
