Hello everyone. Welcome to a new video on this channel. Today we test an ACER Aspire 3 consisting of an Intel Core i3 1115G4, 12GB dual-channel ram, and integrated Intel UHD Graphics in 26 games. Originally, the device consisted of 8GB of single-channel RAM. However, I can only recommend that anyone who uses a device with integrated graphics and wants to play games should upgrade to dual-channel RAM. Accordingly, that was the first thing I did when I received the Aspire 3.
Before we get to the test results, I want to say something about the device itself. For the 350 euros that it costs at the time of writing, you get a laptop that is not beautiful to look at, does not excel in robustness, and is also no wonder ergonomically. If you don’t mind the appearance and if you put the thing on a stand or on your desk with an external mouse and keyboard and possibly a good screen next to it, you have a great machine that excels in office work. 12GB of memory and a 256GB SSD meets what I consider the minimum for a light gaming PC in 2022. Great laptop for when you use it locally or want to set up a home workplace on a budget.
But how did the laptop perform in games? Some sort of a double edge sword. On the one hand, the Intel UHD Graphics. A well-known integrated graphics unit that has often been tested on this channel. Accordingly, my conclusion is the same as always. Good enough for light gaming in 2022. In principle, all widespread e-sports but also casual games are playable well with it. Less demanding games like League of Legends, but also more demanding games like Lost Ark or Dead by Daylight are at least okay if not even very well playable.
However, the Intel UHD GPU fails in really demanding games. But I do not think that is surprising. Games like Call of Duty Warzone but also newer Assassin’s Creed games like Odyssey are and will never be playable on this GPU.
By the way, I haven’t said a word about the Intel Core i3 1115G4 yet for a reason. Because it’s the CPU’s turn now. And in contrast to the Intel UHD Graphics, which I was generally satisfied with, it will now be quite sobering. A dual-core CPU with 4 threads in 2022. Please let that roll off your tongue. Even though the Intel UHD Graphics is not particularly fast, it was often slowed down by the i3 in games. Namely, exactly when a dual-core is no longer sufficient. This is the case in games like FIFA 22, Overwatch 2, or Apex Legends. In Overwatch 2, for example, there were game crashes in intense scenes. For instance, in the middle of a team fight. I couldn’t find a way to do anything about it. However, an FPS lock to 40 FPS at least made the crashes occur less often because a lot of loads was taken off the system. That may be because Overwatch 2 still needs a patch, but it is still possible to see that the i3 often triggered the 100% load and in this case a severe bottleneck.
Apex Legends also requires at least a quad-core CPU. Otherwise, the game often crashes at the beginning of a match.
But it’s best to have a look at the 26 tested games yourself. Some of them really ran very well. Maybe the i3 1115G4 is sufficient for one or the other user.
Nevertheless, my conclusion is not entirely positive because of the previously mentioned reasons. I simply cannot recommend a du
