Science Assists Crippled Children Dublin Issue (1942)

Titles read: “SCIENCE ASSISTS CRIPPLED CHILDREN“ (Dublin issue). Victoria, United States of America (or Australia?). Various shots of children suffering from Infantile Paralysis in the Austin Hospital. Nurses help children who have lost the use of their arms to paint by holding a paintbrush between their toes. A little girl lies on a bed and feeds herself from a bowl by using her toes to hold a spoon. Children are put into iron lungs. M/S of a line of children in the contraptions. We see the workings of the respirators. A nurse turns the pages of a comic so that a boy can read the funnies while in an iron lung. A small boy called Arthur Cogdale walks along slowly, holding onto some parallel bars. He is learning to walk again and will soon leave the hospital cured. Note: it is not clear whether location of story is Victoria in America or Australia. Paperwork states USA, but elsewhere states original story comes from Strelitz, the Australian film company.
