Chart Reading Part 3 - Latin Jazz Big Band Chart

Here is the part 3 of a series all about drum set chart reading. It is geared towards beginning to intermediate players who already have basic drum set skills. This chart, Alianza by Eric Morales, is a bit more advance than the previous two selections. This tune is written in a Latin-Jazz Style and transitions between a mambo/songo groove and a straight-ahead jazz feel. I play the chart and then talk about the equipment I use to play this type of music. I also discuss interpreting the chart with short and long sounds on the drum set. Finally, I play it again with the music on the screen so that you can see how I set up the figures.
