If you’ve been paying attention to the rise of the “fact checking” industry, then you’ve witnessed how this ostensibly non-biased effort to determine the truth about disputed claims in the media has been deployed in service of the rich and powerful and used to marginalize alternative and heterodox viewpoints — in particular on questions of vaccines and “the science.” Now we find out that Facebook’s fact checkers get their funding directly from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a non-profit funded by Johnson & Johnson, a vaccine manufacturer.
