Making a Quilt Coat | Repurposing Damaged Quilts into Wearable Clothing

In this video, I’m sharing my process of sewing a quilt coat from start to finish. It’s one of my most asked-about products, and I wanted to share everything that goes into making these amazing quilted jackets. For my coats, I use antique quilts with damages, like stains or tears, because I’m a big supporter of repurposing and upcycling (and because I can’t bring myself to cut up a perfectly good quilt). My pattern is a combination of patterns I purchased, along with my own modifications. I make the coats in a “one-size-fits-most“ shape, because I want the coat to be inclusive for a wide range of body types. I hope you enjoy watching this process. If you’re inspired to make a quilt coat of your own, let me know in the comments! Or leave some feedback for what you’d like to see me make in the future. See you next Sunday!
