Welcome aboard! Get ready! It’s time to recover. Today, we are in the cockpit of an EA-18G Growler overhead the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) somewhere in the Pacific Ocean in 2017.
This is a “pinky“ or sunset recovery. You will see me pass overhead the ship three times.
At time 0:14, I am in low holding (point 1) at angels four, waiting for my turn to recover. After the aircraft holding below me vacate their altitudes, I can follow them down to the overhead.
At time 2:30, I enter the spin pattern. My interval was waved off, was past the bow, and had yet turn downwind, so I spun it for the overhead.
At time 4:12, I broke on my interval. Only the tanker trapped behind me.
Time to get some grub before the night page. All in a day’s work. I’m just happy to be here.
