Amanda Lear: Assassino [Compilation] (1984-85, 1988)

Amanda Lear is a fascinating persona. Born as Alain Tapp in Saigon in 1939, he became a female impersonator in 1959, performing under the stage name Peki d’Oslo. It was an encounter with Salvador Dalí that gave Alain the chance to become a woman on a clinic in Casablanca in March 1963, and Amanda was born. After working as a model during the 60s, she befriended David Bowie who persuaded her she could use her unique voice to sing, and by 1975 she signed to Ariola Records, just as the disco era took off. As much as I would have loved to post Amanda’s full Ariola catalogue on my channel, most of these songs now get blocked by Sony-BMG so I’m afraid that’s not an option.  After she left Ariola in 1984, she became a superstar in Italy as a TV-host, but still released various singles before completing her first new album Secret Passion in three years, late 1986.
