Title: Little Dragon Maiden 楊過與小龍女 Year: 1983 Director: Hua Shan 華山 Casts: Leslie Cheung 張國榮, Weng Tsing-tsing 翁靜晶, Chen Kuan-tai 陳觀泰, Liu Hsueh-yua 劉雪華 Yang Kuo (Leslie Cheung) is taught by Auyang Feng (Lo Lieh) the Toad skill to remove his poison, and becomes his adopted son. Kuo Tsing (Chen Kuan-tai) and Huang Yung (Liu Hsueh-hua) recognizing him to be their friend Yang Kang’s son, bring him up on an island. To avoid him from becoming a martial evil like his father, Huang only teaches him classics literature and not kung fu nor fight. When he is caught learning from Auyang, they take him to his late father’s master, Chuan Chen Chief Chu Chu-chi (Sun Chien). Chu puts him under the custody of a second-generation pupil Chao Chih-chin (Wang Li). Knowing that his father was a traitor, he and his pupils persecute him without giving him any instruction. Yang is badly beaten and injured, and uses Toad skill to fight back. He then flees, and is rescued by Grandma Sun of the Ku Mu clan. When Sun dies, she tells Little Dragon Maiden (Mary Jean Reimer Lau) to adopt him. Dragon Maiden becomes Yang’s master, and teaches him her clan’s martial arts. When the two are practicing Maiden kung fu, the intrusion of a Chuan Chen pupil Yin Chih-ping (Hung Hsin-nan), who secretly loves her, shocks her. She returns to Ku Mu to recuperate Li Mo-hsiu (Tanny Tien Ni), a discharged pupil for years, returns to Ku Mu to steal the Maiden manual. She injures Dragon Maiden, who has to use a trap to stop her. On another occasion, Yin takes advantage of her when she happens to be numbed by Auyang who came to teach Yang kung fu. She thought Yang did this and proposes to marry him. When he refuses, she leaves in sorrow. Yang goes everywhere to find Dragon Maiden. When a martial arts conference called by Kuo is disrupted by Prince Huo Tu (Ku Kwun-chung) of Mongolia, Yang and Dragon who met each other on the way, combine to repulse them. When Huang tells Dragon that it doesn’t befit her and Yang to get married in view of their master and pupil relationship, Dragon Maiden leaves. Thinking she has jumped down a precipice, Yang does likewise, only to be rescued by a vulture who teaches him a unique swordplay. Dragon Maiden returns to Ku Mu, and when she overhears a conversation about Yin taking advantage of her, she kills him. She then follows Li’s advice to find Yang. The beaten Mongol Prince returns with a No. 1 swordsman Chin Lun (Lung Tien-chiang) to raid the Kuos. Dragon Maid joins them to resist. Yang riding a vulture arrives and kills Chin Lun.
