In a groundbreaking move,Russia has commenced its delivery of free grain to six African countries, fulfilling a promise made by President Vladimir Putin earlier this year. The Russian agriculture minister, Dmitry Patrushev, announced on Friday that shipments totaling up to 200,000 tonnes have been initiated. Patrushev revealed on Telegram that the First two ships, carrying 25,000 tons of Russian wheat each, have already set sail for Burkina Faso and Somalia from Russian ports. Anticipated to arrive in late November or early December, these shipments mark the beginning of a substantial humanitarian effort by Moscow.
