Puss hears a Stuka

The year is 1940. Puss in Boots has lived for way too long and Death (straight up) is coming for him again. Death finds Puss fighting for the Far Far Away Kingdom against the Farquaadist Reich and decides to use the most modern technology to make sure Puss surely dies this time. RIP Gato con Botas (1550-1940) The “Death Whistle“ you hear here are the “Jericho Trumpets“ that were placed on the German Junkers Ju 87 or Stuka dive bombers. The sound was created by propeller-driven sirens mounted on the undercarriage legs of the plane. Its purpose was to damage enemy morale through psychological warfare and it was quite effective at doing so early in the war, giving the Stuka a terrifying reputation. Later in the war, however, it was found that the sirens decreased the speed of the plane by 20-25 km/h, leaving it vulnerable to AA fire and enemy fighters. The Germans also realized that the sirens ruined the element of surprise by giving Allied soldiers an early warning. For these reasons, the sirens were removed from later models of the Stuka.
