➡️ After analyzing “DIG“ by Mudvayne, I checked out Ryan’s current band @SoftenTheGlare shortly after. Coming back to experience “Death Blooms“ for the first time gave me a LOT of perspective on his playing when returning to a Mudvayne song. I really, really appreciate how he can cut through even the densest of mixes (and compositions) with lyrical bass lines that REALLY elevate the song. In this video, I check out “Death Blooms“ from the band’s debut album “L.D. 50“ and am pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the chorus is. I wasn’t aware Mudvayne had a softer, melodic side. I discuss Ryan’s signature Warwick Thumb bass tone (and use my own Warwick to demonstrate), his perfect use of slap & pop accents alongside the drum parts, his wide-range of moving bass lines (which are just as catchy as the vocals in the chorus),
