Xi Jinping leads celebrations marking centenary of China’s ruling Communist Party

President Xi Jinping, who is also party general secretary, delivered a keynote speech highlighting the ruling party’s achievements in front of more than 70,000 attendees. Senior officials who appeared alongside Xi at the Gate of Heavenly Peace included former president Hu Jintao, ex-premier Wen Jiabao, Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor and Macau Chief Executive Ho Iat-seng.
