Beethoven gala: Highlights of the concert on Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday

On the occasion of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday, a huge celebration was held in his honor by the Beethoven Orchester Bonn and its artistic director, conductor Dirk Kaftan. The ‘BeethovenNight, powered by Telekom’ gala was held in Bonn – Beethoven’s place of birth – on December 16, 2020. This program includes two world premieres; by Quincy Jones, and Max Richter. Guest artists such as Daniel Hope (violin), Joy Denalane (vocals), Olga Pashchenko (piano), and the Opera Choir of the Theater Bonn also take part in the evening. Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 - 1827) is the world’s most frequently performed classical composer, and a preeminent ambassador of European culture. His works are counted amongst the cultural heritage of all humanity. For centuries, interest in his music remained unabated, and it has become a global phenomenon. Both ubiquitous and perennially modern – the name Beethoven resounds far beyond the realm of music. Organizer: Beethoven Jubiläums GmbH, in cooperation
