In this work we present a 19-inch rack quantum computing demonstrator based on trapped ions. The demonstrator has a footprint of 1.7×1 m2 , requires minimal on-site maintenance and can be operated remotely via network. The only infrastructure needed is mains power supply and network connection. In this demonstrator qubits are encoded in a 4S1/2, -1/2 → 3D5/2, -1/2 dipole forbidden transition of 40Ca ions confined in a Paul trap. We provide general ion-trap system characterization such as mechanical stability, coherence time, ion chain motional modes heating rates, and single-ion optical addressing capabilities, as well as quantum computing-related benchmarks
