ESL Teaching Strategy Alphabet and Phonics

Phonics is helpful for ESL students who are just learning the English alphabet. EFL Students whose first language does not use the same alphabet as English does (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic) have an extra challenge as they learn English. They are learning a new alphabet and the sound that are associated with it. For these students, phonics can be a great help. Students learn what sounds each letter or combination of letters makes, and that helps them in their reading and pronunciation, especially with new words. How to teach phonics? You can use my ESL teaching strategy. ESL Students start by learning each individual letter sound and then learn to decode whole words with these sounds. Students will learn letter sounds, like c, a and t and then later they will learn to blend them together to make words like ‘cat’. So in this video we will focus on that method. #ESL #Phonics #Alphabet
