First Woman On Stage at the Kabuki-za!?

In this video we focus on the surprising news that the Terajima Shinobu, the 50 years old daughter of the famous actor Onoe Kikugorō VII, will perform a leading female role at the Kabuki-za. To answer the question on the title, many young women, a few musicians and at least one dancer have appeared at the Kabuki-za during regular kabuki programs since the venue’s opening in 1889.
