PARIS FASHION WEEK SPRING SUMMER 2024

Bonjour and Welcome in Paris for the Paris Fashion Week, Spring Summer 2024! I’m Francesca, a French fashion journalist and fashion video editor based in Paris, and this is my up-close and personal approach of this Spring-Summer 24 Ready-to-wear Paris Fashion Week! This Spring-Summer 24 Paris Fashion Week has been marked by the emotional presentation of the final collection of Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen after 26 years in the British fashion house, of which 13 years as Creative Director appointed after the death of Lee McQueen. “The collection is inspired by female anatomy“ wrote Sarah Burton on the departing note awaiting for its guests on their seats ; “and is dedicated to Lee Alexander McQueen whose wish was to empower women and to the passion, talent and loyalty of my team“. What we didn’t know at that time is that not only was this Spring Summer 24 collection the last one for Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen but also one of the last for Pierpaolo Piccioli at Valentino! The Italian designer exited Valentino after two decades, twenty five years more precisely at the Creative Direction of the Roman house. This is a quite exciting time of the fashion history : the game of musical chairs! So who will be replacing Pierpaolo Piccioli at Valentino? The former Gucci Creative Director! Alessandro Michele announced its appointment as the Creative Director of the Rome-based Couture house. A season of farewells for the fashion industry! After Matthew , announced stepping down as Creative Director at Givenchy, the acclaimed Belgian designer Dries Van Noten announced leaving his role for his eponymous brand. So far, no name has been confirmed to succeed to Sarah Burton, Matthew M. Williams and Dries Van Noten, but only speculations of Simon Porte Jacquemus or Sarah Burton to be nominated at Givenchy... and Kim Jones reportedly close to leaving Fendi! Paris Fashion Week is such a big deal for fashion designers! After Victoria Beckham, this Spring-Summer 2024 marked the Australian designer Christopher Esber, and the American designer Peter Do’s first-ever show in Paris. Saint Laurent, under the light of the Eiffel Tower : can we be more Parisian than this? Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello pursues his remarkable journey by paying a tribute to the artwork of Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent by revisiting the best-known archives through his own aesthetic signature. Enjoy this Paris Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2024 edition! Please let me know what is your favorite fashion show of this spring summer season, I would love to hear about it! PS : Sorry for the mistake in the title of the second show of the video, It’s Alexander McQueen and not Givenchy as written in the video, Givenchy is presented later in the video. Sorry for the mistake and the French accent!
