Wolf Wakes Her Sister With Forceful Hug

Beyond their ecological importance as critical keystone predators, wolves are known for their aggressive hugging! Meet Mexican gray wolves, Nita and Jean! The adorable sisters are unarguably entertaining (see them in action in the video, “Wolf Sits on Her Sister’s Head“ - ). They also represent the Wolf Conservation Center’s participation in the active effort to save their species from extinction. The WCC, a 501c3 non-profit organization in South Salem, NY, is one of a network of facilities participating in the Mexican Wolf Species Survival Plan (SAFE) - a bi-national initiative whose primary purpose is to support the reestablishment of Mexican gray wolves in the wild through captive breeding, public education, and research.
