The late Zhirinovsky had something to say about Transnistria, where a Soviet base remains

Yesterday, the Transnistrian government officially requested protection from Russia against the Moldovan government, which is pushing to absorb the partially recognized Republic & join the EU. In a 2006 referendum, 98% of Transnistrians voted in favour of joining Russia.
